A Premier double at Lake Wendouree: XCR Round 8 recap

Sandringham’s women and men both won their Premier Division contests at Lake Wendouree, delivering a pivotal double in Round 8 of the 2026 XCR season.

The Half Marathon and 6km round took the club to Ballarat for a demanding day of racing around Lake Wendouree. The open squads responded superbly, with both Premier teams taking the maximum on offer for the round.

For the men, it was another strong collective performance as the race for the season premiership entered its final two rounds. The women were equally resolute, keeping the pressure on in a tight Premier Division contest.

Two rounds to go

The season then moved to Burnley for the 15km road race before the Tan Relays brought the 2026 XCR season to a close.
