John McGuinness has a Victorian championship medal. At Bundoora on 11 July, in the Male 40+ Short Course at the Athletics Victoria Cross Country Championships, the man the middle-distance running community calls the Irish Greyhound ran 24:44 over the 6km to take bronze.
The medal came in a quality field. Andrew Cutting of South Coast took gold in 23:27 and Neal Conder of Geelong Region silver in 23:46, with John a further 58 seconds back in third. Eight championship points to Sandy, and a state medal for a runner who turns up week after week.
