Double gold at Jells Park: XCR Round 2 recap
A genuinely big day for the club. Sandy fielded eight teams across the divisions at Jells Park on Saturday and walked away with two gold medals in the premier Open relays, the strongest start to a relay round in years.

Round 2 — XC Relays, Jells Park
🏆 Male Open 6 × 6km Premier — Sandringham 1st (1:51:20)
What a performance. Sandringham 'M1.8' didn't just win the premier Male Open 6x6km, the team put more than two minutes into Western Athletics and almost four minutes into Bendigo Region in third. Six legs, every one under 19:10, three of them under 18:25. Special mention to William Garbelotto for the fastest Sandy split of the day (18:16), and to Logan and Bailey both clocking 18:22.

🏆 Female Open 5 × 6km Premier — Sandringham 1st (1:49:01)
The other half of the double. Sandringham 'F1.8' took the premier Female Open 5x6km in 1:49:01, 49 seconds clear of Box Hill and over two minutes ahead of Western Athletics in third. Mia Roux set the tone with the fastest Sandy women's leg of the day (21:16), and Meg closed out a famous Sandy win.

Female Division 2 (4 × 6km) — 1:34:49
Depth on top of the gold. Orla Shackcloth's 22:30 opener was the second-fastest Sandy women's leg of the day across both teams. Stella Crawford-Rust 23:55, Gabrielle Vincent 24:05 and Lucy Polkinghorne 24:19 backed it up.
Female Under 18 (3 × 3km) — 33:39
A genuinely exciting group. Elizabeth Craig opened with 10:58, the quickest Sandy 3km leg by anyone of any age, and Milla Malherbe (11:05) and Emily Wetzels (11:36) kept the pressure on.
Male Division 4 (5 × 6km) — 1:40:26
Tom Davoren got the team away with a 19:02 split. James Paproth (19:46), Maxy Letten (20:00), Ben Gibson (20:38) and Jake Malone (21:00) all under 21 minutes for back-to-back hilly 6km laps.
Male 40+ 3 × 6km (Division 11) — Sandy 4th and 5th
